1/ Coronavirus is more than just a disease but a series of human-made mistakes. It could have been contained if whistleblower doctors have not been detained. Even now Beijing is still clamping down on online discussions critical of the government's mishandling of the outbreak.
2/ To keep the official figures of confirmed cases low, Chinese hospitals now refuse to take in new patients, inflected patients are forced to terminate their treatment, and asymptomatic patients are not counted in the confirmed case total, according to several media's reports.
3/ Not to mention that 80% of COVID-19 tests that Czech brought from China give fake results. All censored information by China may lead to another wave of contagion and threaten other countries' life and death. Besides, China is now busy shaping the narrative by blaming others.
4/ Last week China's state mouthpieces Global Times, CCTV and China News just lied to the public by claiming that the virus has been widely spread in Italy even before Wuhan's outbreak. The government also said that China donated masks to Italy for free.
5/ Through misinformation and fake news, China tramples upon other nation's dignity, threatens other's safety with cover-ups and lies, and even put the sincerity of its government aid into doubt.
6/ Beyond any doubt, China is now leveraging masks for political influence. And insincere generosity has a price. Last year Chinese embassy just openly criticized Italian parliamentarians for holding meetings to support HK, more like treating Italy as another province of China.
7/ Quartz today reported that China is now buying up Italy. If the Italian government fails to guard the nation against China's autocratic ambitions, the consequence of losing sovereignty and autonomy will be more disastrous.
8/ During this dismal situation, people of Italy and Hong Kong are all fighting a war on this deadly virus. We Hongkongers all stand with everyone in Italy. I am sure that we all can get through this difficult times before long.
