1/ I think the recent blatant attacks on Jimmy Sham is attempts to spread white terror across the city. All of them targeted pro-democracy figures, showing that assailants and the authority behind them worry about the high turnout in the election which benefits pan-dem.
2/ I also believe that the assaults are one of the ploys used to suspend election in Nov. In fact, HKGov has already flagged up the possibility that the Gov can postpone the election based on the possibility of 'public violence or dangers to public safety'.
3/ They can even suspend the election through Emergency Laws. Therefore, it is worrying that the assault is just the prelude to the suspension of the upcoming election. However, I believe that the assaults only add fuel to the fire.
4/ Even though they are used to create a chilling effect on protesters with force and fear. More people realize democracy is the only way out. Injustice will only make Hongkongers more determined, resolute and tenacious in our cause for democracy.
