[My letter to @tim_cook on the Removal of ‘http://HKmap.live ’ app from App Store.]

3. I learned that you backed the decision in an internal email, saying Apple received ‘credible information’ from HKPolice that the app was “being used maliciously to target individual officers for violence and to victimize individuals and property where no police are present”.

4. As a user of the http://HKmap.live app in HK, I am deeply disappointed with Apple’s decision to ban the app from App Store. Lots of HKers and I used crowdsourced real-time information from http://HKmap.live app to avoid danger and confrontation.

5. We use the real-time info from HKmap not with the intention to inflict personal harm on anyone but to protect ourselves from harm so as to protect my personal safety from police violence and harassment.

7. As a long-time user of Apple products and services, I respect your courage and leadership on many controversial issues and choosing to support diversity and free speech. This is what makes Apple a special company.

8. I understand it is not an easy decision to make, but sincerely hope that Apple’s commitment to freedom of speech will not waver in the face of Chinese oppression. Yours sincerely, Joshua Wong
