[THREAD] Some people asked me why the public can't present their opinions in a peaceful way, and how all these turmoils would come to an end. Instead of focusing on how these turmoils would end, maybe we should look back and see how all these started.
February 13, HK Gov launched the document of Extradition Bill. March 4, HK Bar Association announced its opposition to the Bill. March 19, HK Chamber of Commerce released the statement on 'Extradition Proposals Require Clearly-defined Framework; Changes Should Not Be Rushed'.
April 2, the bill was proceeded to LegCo. HK Bar Assn. released 'Observations ..... in Criminal and Matters Legislation (Amendment) Bill 2019'. April 3, 1st Reading of the Bill was conducted in LegCo due to support from Pro-Beijing lawmakers, despite general public outcry.
April 28, protest march with 130,000 participants. May 28, petitions by education and religion sectors. June 6, protest march by law sector. June 9, protest march with 1 million participants. June 16, protest march with 2 million participants.
The Gov ignored any opposition, and rejected withdrawal of the Bill. What follows come after the 150+ shots of tear gas. Those who protest against the Bill are not only youngsters, but also the educated from business and law sectors.
You claim to be ignorant of the problems arising from the Extradition Bill. You claim to be uninformed of the 'rule of law', and you choose not to believe in views by law professionals. You claim to know little about business, but not trust the leaders of the business field.
You accuse the protesters have been incited with money benefits by foreign influences, in an attempt to overthrow the Beijing regime. The city is dying, when its 'rule of law' and economy are being destroyed.
The general public have expressed their opinions and views in a peaceful manner, but you opt not to listen. So what else can the general public do? And this is how all have started. The bill is still existed and not terminated and withdraw yet.
Can you tell me how all these would end? When will Beijing respond to all the citizens, and tackle the problem, instead of dealing with those who raise their concerns?
