2. The article by @thenation I shared earlier reflects the interesting impression by some on the left that traditionally Democrats have not been as outspoken as Republicans on China, but it no doubt overlooks many voices that should be heard and work that should be acknowledged.

3. I have met several times in the past with @SpeakerPelosi, who since the days of Tiananmen has consistently and unequivocally stood on the side of human rights in China. She is also an indispensable ally of Hong Kong’s movement for greater democracy and self-determination.

4. I will be forever grateful for the nomination of my friends @nathanlawkc, @alexchow18 and myself for the Nobel Peace Prize last year. That effort led by @marcorubio and @RepChrisSmith enjoyed the backing of a bipartisan, bicameral group of lawmakers.

5. I have also been following the Democratic presidential primaries. I appreciate @PeteButtigieg, @ewarren, @JulianCastro, @JoeBiden and @BetoORourke for speaking out on Hong Kong in the past month, as well as others who are warning about the threat of China’s authoritarianism.
