Sorry for the delay, I've been out of town. I meant to update my Twitch earlier to say I'm not streaming tonight, but couldn't get to it. I'll be figuring out ways to organize my schedule around days I can't stream; I dislike breaking a schedule immensely.
I'm doing better, but I'll be off streaming for Saturday. I'll record a YouTube video for the morning though. Have a great weekend, all!
Just added in little coins that !mes drop when people cheer bits. I'll be balancing the speeds abit, but I'm really happy with how it came out. 😄

This is fantastic. If you want to learn from industry people how to get into #gamedev or ask direct questions:

The #gamedev contact list for students and people wanting to get in to games has now been published. This will remove the viewer limit. You can DM me with the below template if you are a professional game dev who wants to help out. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d

In a dystopian future: #AI: Human, you appear to have a bug. 👨: I feel fine. AI: Running health scan... 👨: Gosh, not this again. **2 hours later** AI: Bug found. Your left sock is contaminated by the common cold. 👨: Fine, I've changed socks. AI: Restarting scan. 👨: Dangit.

I stayed up until 2 AM making this video, and I have no regrets.

I'm gonna be heading out to a con on Saturday, so I won't be streaming. I may try to do a makeup stream or else release something special on my YouTube Channel to make up for missing. I'm still rolling around some ideas in my brain. Anything you'd like to see me do?

If you're a game programmer, you might have a greater opportunity than ever before to break into the video games industry. The games industry doesn't have enough Game Programmers. Engineers and engineering studios are in high demand. youtube.com/watch?v=hhRvc9 #gamedev #IndieDev

"Do not repeat the tactics which have gained you one victory, but let your methods be regulated by the infinite variety of circumstances." - Sun Tzu, The Art of War In game programming, methods that worked in one case likely won't work in another. It's important to be aware.

"When leaders lead in ways that people's brains can follow, good results follow as well... most of the issues that hamper results and harm company culture are truly fixable." - Dr. Henry Cloud, Boundaries for Leaders I've gotten better at not quickly giving up on people.

We over-focus on our nouns during our lives, but at the end it's the adjectives that will matter. "Programmer", "friend", and "story coach" won't matter unless "driven", "compassionate", "inspiring", and other such adjectives precede them.
3
"...the worst of imagining things is that the time comes when you have to stop and that hurts." - Anne, Anne of Green Gables I think I've reached a point where I love life enough that imagining actually takes me away from my happiest moments. I'm thankful for that.

When I did #gamedev programming alone I had no gauge for "good enough". So I pushed myself harder in niche areas. Now that I program with others, I have a gauge for "good enough". So I push myself harder in general areas I missed. I think both are required for well-roundedness.

I've often feared that my work isn't good enough. But I've found when I do the following, that fear vanishes: 1. Ask "Would I pay for this?" Update my work until I can say "yes" 2. Focus on helping someone else, not my image 3. Consider my work in the context of my experience

"That we ought not to be weary of doing little things for the love of God, who regards not the greatness of the work, but the love with which it is performed." - of Brother Lawrence, The Practice of the Presence of God I try to keep in mind the "little things".
3
"We shall squeeze you empty, and then we shall fill you with ourselves." - 1984 by George Orwell I used to feel I couldn't hear another opinion without accepting it. I'm better at that than I used to be, but anyone wishing to reprogram an equal for their own comfort is inhuman.

Also, chopsticks for cookies in milk finally solves my cookie-dipping problems. Fully submerging a tiny cookie? No prob. Dropped the cookie in? No prob. My life is changed. 🥢
I have learned that eating everything with chopsticks keeps my hands clean and removes paranoia about washing my hands after eating coated chips, greasy food, etc when doing anything on my computer. Right now I am eating pizza with chopsticks. I have ascended.

"That he had desired to be received into a monastery... so he should sacrifice to GOD his life, with its pleasures: but that God had disappointed him, he having met with nothing but satisfaction in that state." - of Brother Lawrence Right paths that seem poor hide riches.
"In war, then, let your great object be victory, not lengthy campaigns." - Sun Tzu, The Art of War I find it despicable when people do slow work to get more paychecks. I've worked myself out of multiple jobs, and I'm proud of it. I wouldn't be capable of my job now if I hadn't.

"Should I study or create more?" This question used to drive me nuts. Now that I've got a game dev job, the answer I've found and seen with others has surprised me. I hope it helps you out if you're where I was a year ago! youtube.com/watch?v=usnVbi #gamedev #indiedev

"what also struck me was that there were no 'bad guys' anywhere in the mix- only good and talented people, all trying to do the best they could." - Dr. Henry Cloud, Boundaries for Leaders I try not to view people as just good or bad guys anymore. It's tempting to vilify people.
"The athlete knows the day will never come when he wakes up pain-free. He has to play hurt." - Steven Pressfield, The War of Art I want to have work/rest balance, but I never want fear of pain to keep me from doing good work. Discomfort is normal for anything worthwhile.
