I once interviewed Runt for a profile for OpenFile during a brief period when people worried the Lee's mural had disappeared—but it turned out he was slowly repainting it because it was faded & covered in bird shit. RIP to all the OpenFile stories lost to the sands of time

With unprecedented access to the MuchMusic archives, “299 Queen Street West” tells the story of a scrappy television upstart from the perspective of the VJ’s. At the time, they had no prior TV hosting experience, were given no scripts, no direction and went live to air across the country.

The channels rise in popularity intersected with rap music entering the mainstream, the birth of grunge and alternative rock and pop stars caused teenage hysteria at the iconic street level studio.

I looked into the finances of the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, which said last month that it could fold in the face of rising costs. Grants accumulated during the pandemic covered 2022's higher costs...but now they're facing those costs head-on.

Are we that starved for excellence on TV that we’re going to exalt THE LAST OF US S1E03 to the heavens? It’s good! Very good, at points, thanks to great casting. But it’s not the be all, end all. It’s like finding an Arby’s in Southern Ontario: surprising, and huh, tasty enough.
