    Breaking: Pope Francis announces Vatican will open secret archives to allow access to all files regarding Pope Pius XII, whose actions as pontiff during Second World War are disputed. Archives will be open from March 2, 2020. "The Church is not afraid of history," Francis says.

        In fairness no head of state allows 100% access to everything their predecessors did. The popes record on transparency is pretty awful, but he still deserves fair analysis

        Pope Francis says that the Catholic Church is NOT afraid of history. But the fact that the Church has destroyed records of alleged child sexual abuse by priests suggests that the Church is VERY afraid of its long history of covering up sexual abuse & protecting pedophile priests
