Doesn't this have to depend on the issue? To take two opposite ends of the spectrum: people can clearly be good people and disagree with me about optimal tax rate structure. If the basis of an argument denies or diminishes the humanity of others, than you’re not a good person. Once that threshold is crossed, there is a lot of room for good faith disagreement.

Exactly. There are many issues today that don’t exist in a “both sides” universe. Slavery, racism, bigotry, xenophobia, children in
