And yes for anyone wondering, this was a real experiment! People actually did it! (The seal's name was Nick.) As it turned out Nick could see lots of stars, although not quite as many as our eyes can.

This sentence "The IRAF reduction-package for astronomical images (National Optical Astronomy Observatories, Tuscon, AZ) was used for data analysis" is exactly what it needed to make it perfect.

Yep, the worst part is that the seal had to learn IRAF for this too.
