In fairness, Alex, you’ve called for arrests and crowd dispersal on Twitter. I understand your thoughts re the lockdown, but we must understand that many protestors feel this is an issue they cannot sit still for it. It’s not our place as white men to tell them how to speak out.
- speak out, and amplify the voices of our black friends. But it is not our job to tell them how to protest, or how to speak out, as we don’t have that lived experience. If you want to big up your allyship, then put forward an alternate proposal beyond just “arrest and disperse”

I hope the government will make a commitment. Please, then, listen in the first instance, rather than immediately call for arrests and dispersal. I don’t doubt the sincerity in your concern, but talking over the movement and failing to acknowledge why it’s happening doesn’t help.
