The High Court has given the green light for EHDC to proceed with its challenge against the Planning Inspectorate’s decision to grant planning permission for a gypsy & traveller site at Chapel Lane, Little Hadham. For further details please visit: http://ow.ly/4Hpp50zNDoL
Gasworks specified for 200 homes in district plan. Application was denied by EHDC due to overdevelopment, planning inspectorate overturned that decision and EHDC said they would not challenge. Point stands - why challenge inspectorates decision on this site and not on Gasworks?

I sit on planning committee and I agree the gasworks was not ideal. But was a legal site. GW developer challenges our decision and won. Hadam was an illegally developed site without approval. Totally different scenario.
-
I’m glad you agree re Gasworks site, and I understand the situation surrounding Hadham. I think some clarity on why Gasworks was unchallenged beyond just “legal advice” would be beneficial, especially for the many people who campaigned against the development...

Plus we have to be realistic regarding what is challengeable legally and ultimately winnable. Every challenge comes at a cost to the taxpayer.

I agree we have to be realistic, but as I said in my tweet above, clarity beyond just “legal advice” would come as a relief to the many local people concerned/upset about Gasworks site.
