I think lower it to 16, but implement compulsory political/citizenship education in secondary school so that young people have at least a basic understand how the political system works, the importance of their vote and also some of the history around how and why they can vote.

Bringing a new subject in, there’d have to be teacher training too. My own personal experience is teachers are neutral and good to speak to around these things. I do think we have to put trust in our teachers, rather than just pile more regulations on them.

Experiences vary and teacher training would be important. But if the gov wants to enable teachers to be impartial then they should put trust in them rather than restrict their ability to teach, as that would only “radicalise” them against the government, in a sense.
