There should be a Wikipedia history that isn't controlled by Wikipedia. Otherwise they just can modify the revision history in their database to hide certain edits.

Or more simply - the sentence that was added cited a Reuters source that didn't even mention the phrase "president-elect" so a Wikipedia user deleted it.
