1/ Why is “Buy Now, Pay Later” (BNPL) an early threat to trillions of dollars of market cap - Visa (almost $500B), MasterCard ($350B), card issuing banks, acquiring banks/services (Fiserv, FIS, Global Payments, etc)?

I’ve been delighted by Duolingo’s characters and it’s been fun watching them be pulled forward. And the synthetic speech sounds great too… to my untrained in French ears.

But I wish it was using something besides the Polly/Matthew voice. No question: it's the highest quality voice right now (NPR recently did some research around this), but its superiority means that news audio from multiple publishers all sounds the same.

Text-to-speech has come so far in the last 5 years. Excited for the Post's investment here. This technology makes content more convenient and accessible to everyone.
