What's the better shorthand?

I don’t have one, TBH. Construction or building or crafting, perhaps. But machines that make/build/manufacture things aren’t ‘printers’. It’s the wrong word, even if it’s connected to a computer program. It is waaaaaay too cute. And it’s the wrong word.

I get your point in bio since you're essentially creating a scaffold to grow something, but "printing" is the closest analog given the way the systems are arrayed and deployed.
