One of the items that the Wayback Machine removed is a FlexiSpy survey showing the majority of potential customers wanted the malware to know if their partner was cheating. So, stalking and abuse. But Wayback removed that evidence and won't say why https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/nekzzq/wayback-machine-deleting-evidence-flexispy …pic.twitter.com/BNyhSTDRCa

The fragility and unreliability of some archiving services is part of the reason we made mass_archive, a tool to push a URL to multiple archivers at once. Will update it with more digital libraries if possiblehttps://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/wj7mkb/mass-archive-tool-python-wayback-machine-perma-achiveis …

The takeaway here isn't that 'the Wayback Machine is bad'. It's still an incredibly important resource for journalists, researchers, etc. But, if you really want to preserve something, you have to diversify https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/nekzzq/wayback-machine-deleting-evidence-flexispy …pic.twitter.com/xCUlvcXukh

And after a suggestion from
@rachel_pick, we're moving away from the term 'jealous lovers'; more likely to use 'abusive partners' instead (context depending). Jealous lovers didn't really capture the severity of the abuse; partners are abusive w/ this malware even if no violence1 Antwort 5 Retweets 26 Gefällt mirDiesen Thread anzeigen

Fortunately, diversifying archives works, in this case. A load more examples of FlexiSpy archives around using malware for abusive partnershttps://twitter.com/phonedude_mln/status/999033267146952704 …

Great reporting, Joseph. Have you had a t-shirt printed up with "obsessed pest" yet? ;)
