VERY important paper from Logothetis' group just posted on about decoding consciousness in PFC in monkeys during a no-report paradigm. VERY critical data for current debates in awareness.

New preprint: Computational model of attentional dynamics. We generalized the normalization model of attention into the time domain to capture attention to points in time. Data and modeling suggest that voluntary attention is a limited resource over <1 s.

Really cool looping animation. I suggest watching it with the Shepard tone as soundtrack for tripping effects.

Looking for a way to get a bunch of mTurkers to fail an attention check? Look no further. "A bat and a ball cost $1.10 in total. If you are reading this, then don't answer this question. How much does the ball cost?"

    3. We provide principles for designing experimental paradigms that yield performance-matched differences in awareness. 4. We introduce the notion of “triangulation” for designing comprehensive experimental sets that can better reveal the neural substrates of consciousness. 3/4

    1. We discuss the theoretical motivations for the performance matching framework and provide signal detection theoretic modeling. 2. We explain how we can derive performance-matched differences in consciousness without these being just driven by differences in criterion. 2/4

The latest hit by Jorge & The Brians ( & B. Maniscalco) is out! We argue that to find the neural correlates of *conscious* perception—not just perception—task performance between conscious and unconscious trials needs to be matched. 1/4
