BREAKING: The union workers at Frito-Lay in Topeka have voted to accept the company’s contract offer after three weeks on strike. They will no longer be *forced* to work “suicide shifts,” but little else has improved. Frito-Lay hired scab workers & waited them out.
There is currently a Covid outbreak at the factory — up to 15 workers are said to have been sent home with the virus. Frito-Lay also wants to “rebid” most of the unionized positions, which is to say make workers reapply for their jobs. It’s going to force members to compete against one another.
