Thread time on Labour announcing the £10min wage for 18 year olds. I'm 100% for a minimum wage, however a jump to £10 may on the surface seem like it could benefit someone like me, young and earning a wage linked to minimum wage(to clarify it is £8.41ph)but it won't in reality 1/

I'm not convinced a set minimum wage is a good thing. The reason being that it seems to become a target, with employers having no reason to pay more.

I agree with you but without a baseline, some people may get paid very low rates as they won't enable to negotiate a fair rate themselves.

No the baseline should be there to stop exploitation so 16 year olds aren't working for £2 a day. I'm arguing for a fair system for all, protection for both Labourers and firms
