Think of the misery that enforced cultural monogamy has caused. Monogamy is *clearly* not for everyone.

Rather - reduces incentives for older men with multiple wives to send off your males who have none to fight one another or other tribes. Or excile them. (Or send to missionary work)

Simple, the law does it right now. If you are legally married to someone, sorry you can’t marry another person, not before you divorce the previous spouse. We live in a society where monogamy is enforced and polygamy has been outlawed. I mean in US and many other countries
