Fun fact, tropical trees like the ones growing in Panama don't generally have growth rings that correlate to age meaning that it's often really hard to tell how old tropical "old growth" is!

If you're interested in forests, Dr Peterson, an excellent resource is Dr Bruce Larson at UBC. He's a conservative who preaches the importance of inequality (among trees) in forests. He also is very interested in approaching the idea of old growth from an empirical perspective
