I'm a big fan, but think it's a bit obtuse to compare Marx--a political philosophor--with Hitler and Mao, who practiced genocide and endorsed cultural cleansing

There's nothing wrong with presenting Marx or even Hitler. The real dishonest thing here is that they don't mention the millions of death caused by his writings. It's like writing how Hitler helped Europe, and not mentioning World War II at all.
-
Difference, Hitler was actually involved in WW2. You know, personally. Marx died while Russia still had Tzars.

That’s just silly and intellectually lazy. Marx and Hitler/Mao are in different categories. Interpreting power structures and creating/misusing them are very different things.

Or genghis khan and how you can't really blame a man for giving into his "natural" instincts as a man.

If anyone has commented w/o reading the article, then GO READ IT. This is what kids are learning from Teen Vogue. All the theory, none of the consequences.

Maybe because Marx was a theorist...duh

How about an article on Adam Smith? Another thinker responsible for 100 million deaths
