I think social science left the concept of tabula rasa behind a while ago -- at least when I was in college. It seems clear that IQ (as with other traits) varies and is in part heritable, but that only means it is in part environmental and hence open to social intervention.

Similar stuff happened in America. I was bored to death by school. Easy A’s with no effort. It was ruining me. One day the school administered IQ tests for promising students. Four of us were offered a slot in a gifted program. Changed my life. Best teacher I ever had.

I feel your pain. In Canada we didn’t have any such programs, so I just had to leave formal education and went to work in a wood working shop. Fortunately I was able to finish the 11th & 12th grade in a program called CABE, it was for criminals and drop outs, I was done in a week
