To be fair - we are the third largest country in the world; the country with the second-largest "diameter"; and perhaps in the top ten countries with the most challenging terrain. Not many countries face the same transportation challenges as Canada.

I constantly find it ironic, however, that Alberta thinks "national interest" is so vital in regards the Trans-Mountain Pipeline but violently opposed it with the National Energy Policy forty years ago. Wasn't "Let the Eastern bastards freeze in the dark". the going quote?

In the UK we produce more natural gas than we can use in the Summer, but when we privatised the storage infrastructure, the private owner started decommissioning sites. Now we sell it to the French in the Summer and buy it back from them at a premium in the Winter.
