Racial identity politics (a very North American/new world concept) is different identity in general which is what all politics is. When you vote according to your principles and beliefs you are affirming your identity along with others becoming a "tribe."

I think you’re misreading the dialectic. Identity politics is problematic bc it makes society—in particular, claims to communicative authenticity— incoherent, thereby negating the possibility for rational communication. Read Habermas. It doesn’t make us racist, it makes us stupid

Identity politics refuses one centralized "group" the power to define everyone/everything on it's own terms and to it's own benefit, The opposite of identity politics is ideological authoritarianism. Historically; white cis straight male ideological/intellectual hegemony.
