The article literally points out that among black and white girls there is not this same inequality....yet they still think the strongest correlating factor among boys is racism....They contradict themselves.

When you read the article you can see that it is not only about your own father and whether he is there to be a role model, but about you environment as well. Which means growing up without a father may still lead to a succesfull life as long as there are other role models nearby

I think I figured this out. The boys influence each other mostly. Boys with fathers are stabilizing; those without are destabilizing. More fathers = more stable peer group. Fewer fathers = less stable.
