An interesting take on this controversy: Jago's piece: https://thewalrus.ca/the-story-behind-jordan-petersons-indigenous-identity/ … My response: https://jordanbpeterson.com/uncategorized/kwakwakawakw-controversy/ … Not so easy to stay disentangled when dealing with such issues, eh, @rjjago @walrusmagazine ?https://twitter.com/splacer123/status/976985993403248641 …

Even the use of the word "nation" is fairly Eurocentric, it is the suggestion that to be "real Indians" you needed something more complex than a traditional family structure. My mom has always told us we have a family, not a nation, that's our oral law.

According to the left, you are not allowed to have Indigenous friends. They are meant to belong to them. You have a great friendship that this idiot thinks you have to compensate for White guilt. He is your friend due to being friends. Common interests instead of tokenism.

Not every "tribe" has a name. Or some have forgotten it, in some cases voluntarily. We had another language we spoke, and last century, my father's mother forbid her mother from teaching it to my father because she was very worried about "prejudice." Words are tools, not masters

This reads as if you didn't follow Jago's piece. It's thesis is about the importance of precise language, its implications and ramifications. None of which I find addressed in your response. You reply to the joke tweet even though its fully addressed in the article, for instance.

Wow it's its that is a problem of precise language for me.

Such a rubbish article! However, having read (suffered) through a few, are we sure "The Walrus" isn't synonymous with "The Onion" (say, a Canadian version)? In any event, looking forward to seeing Jordan's response, after this morning's skate! I know what to expect, anyway. 😉

The fewer the words, the more powerful. It is wiser to respond rather than react.
