I know a law prof who knows my politics (fairly centrist, not extreme about much of anything, believe in strong protection for free speech) and he says that I could do the work easily but that the other students/some faculty would try to crucify me so he advises against it.

I disagree, people need appropriate early childhood education. The problem is that many do not get this, they are raised with authoritarian parents, then they get to University and simply become their abusive parents with a different set of ideological attachements.

Again, I am not sure. I was not allowed to consume violent "shoot 'em up" media or to play violent video games, and I also did not want to, really. Somehow, I am capable of respecting others, and, if I disagree with them, having a discussion. Early childhood socialization is key
