I have stopped drinking water because I saw a documentary about some teens who got sick from swimming in a pond full of bacteria. I don’t want that to happen to me, and I wonder if most people even know that water has deadly bacteria. I never knew. The water companies hide it.

If there's around 7 billion people on earth then 9% is an extra 630,000,000 people with access to clean drinking water. Sounds like a vast improvement to me.
