The "alt right" tag isn't for your benefit. It's for the people who consider Peterson and his "followers" (I hate using that word for people who agree with Jordan) their enemy and actually don't WANT to be persuaded or to agree with him.

I’m so sick of lazy journalists lumping all of Peterson’s admirers into the “alt-right”. I’m still, according to all those political typology quizzes, a liberal; I loathe Milo (and Trump). But that doesn’t stop me from recognizing much of the truth in Peterson’s discourse.

I've more thought it's because he speaks from principle. There are a lot of people who shift core beliefs due to public pressure, and when you find someone who doesn't, it strikes people. Far left doesn't any core principles that aren't malleable based on circumstance/identity.
