I don't know about that. ..I think they do. Just at varying levels. Some to employees, to shareholders some to the media. They all lie by omission to someone. To make excuses or to provide a squeeky clean persona or something else.

As someone who works in publishing the NYT Bestseller List is a sham, from the way they collect sales data to preferring authors of certain regions/economic classes over people actually selling work.

Further, it was shown last year how illegitimate the list is when it was manipulated by a group who intentionally misrepresented how orders for their product were taken, ended up on the list, yet didn’t even have a book in the first place to sell!
