Wow. When I read this, I just see so much problem-solving potential in young, bored people. Now someone figure out how to channel these energies into useful things!

It does get used for useful things. Go look at any forum community and there are just armies of people who provide help, support and advice for free all day long. As a teenager I used to be on computer forums helping folks fix things. They just troll as well for recreation.

It's a pretty accurate explanation. He forgot to mention one of their other major achievements which was locating an ISIS base from the footage of an ISIS propaganda video and actually had it bombed. YT wants to remove isis vids, they want to protect isis??
