Sadly the internet tends to allow low-agreeable people to engage in impolite behavior.

There's been a lot of negative response that's hard, if not impossible to defend. But the media response is ignoring the vast avalanche of reasonable disappointed critique of such a ludicrous display. JP gave a masterclass in that interview.

being willing to threaten your enemies proves that their understanding of your work is flawed. it is civil speech that is meant to avoid that route. the west is founded on it, follow that dictum.

I don't think it's a ploy. It's far more sinister because they actually believe it. "Crude criticism (of me) is a problem to be solved".

For what it's worth. I'm pro-'crude' language... There's a place for it, and the energy that it conveys. It's a talent that needs to be practiced and understood though. Simply throwing it out willy-nilly makes the person look like an idiot (that they may actually be).

Avoiding unnecessary incivility is also recommended, to increase the utility of judicious disagreeability. No use in throwing nasty language at her. Your gentlemanly poise from the interview is a good model for how it should be approached.

I think she was reasonable. She didn't want to force you into a corner, rather understand where you come from. Regardless, it was fascinating to watch the interview and see exactly how you navigate such waters.

Did you watch a different interview? Understanding someone means letting him speak and listen to what he has to say. She didn't let Dr. Peterson finish more than 10% of his sentences ...
