of course, the default answer is "universal child care" w/o realizing how that gets paid for.

I refuse to pay for other people's selfish little devil spawns. Maybe if children grew up with more respect and weren't given smart phones before they can even read....but parents need to plan their financials if they plan on having kids.

I would be glad to just "suck it up" if mandatory minimum wage laws did not violate the most basic principles of the free market. I hate to break it to ya but all work does not yield the same value, arbitrarily enforcing wage laws simply bogs down our economic system.

Our centre will pay more in the minimum wage hikes than the cost of our health plan (which covers the entire family). So now we all lose our benefits because we can't raise fees or subsidies. After loss of dental and other benefits, it's a net loss.

So... In some cases lower income people pay for things that are labour intensive and will become more expensive. They're still better off having more money per hour. You and I both know that wages have not been rising alongside the national decrease in unemployment.

Not if they have to full-time their kids into daycare (like many do) and have absorb this hit. This and other prices going up on everything they need erodes away the pay bump's gains.
