metfromin doesnt destroy kidneys ,,, but is contraindicated in some stages of renal failure ( Cr> 1.4 for women ) and GFR < 30 . its not the cause of kidney failure , but will damage kidneys if they are already impaired

they will live longer for sure ! best thing that metfrimin does is increasing sensitivity to insluin (and not the insuline level itself) and weight reduction (insluine and many other drugs cause weight gain ) . and its the only approved drug to use for pre-diabetics ,
