I'd STRONGLY suggest you dig into this before spreading it further. In 30 seconds of looking at it, I've already found one false claim. "But when I looked into it, I found McQueary didn’t actually see anything; he only heard sounds." But...http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/psu/2016/11/06/Fallout-from-Penn-State-scandal-upended-assistant-coach-s-life-sandusky/stories/201611040207 …

The point of Pendergrast's critique would be that if he had the wrong kind of therapy then hearing things & being hypnotized to visualise them can produce pseudomemories that are indistinguishable from memories of having seen something. Worse, they are even more confidently held.

Yes it is, and especially because so many police have been trained simply to believe the alleged victim. Where repressed memory practices have been banned from courtrooms, police have simply stopped asking the question about counselling, leading to grotesque miscarriages.

SAW not heard. “There’s no question in my mind that I conveyed to them that I saw Jerry in the showers, and that it was severe sexual acts, and that it was wrong and over the line.”http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/17/sports/ncaafootball/mcqueary-testifies-about-sandusky-assault.html …

not just true but recovered memories have a new name... "neuroscience of trauma" coming to a police station near you.
-
Or 'complex trauma.'

What McQueery saw -- SAW with his own eyes, not heard, and then reported -- has NOTHING to do with repressed/recovered memory. He SAW it. He reported it. It was covered up.
-
He never actually saw any physical contact between Sandusky and the kid in the shower, though....
