In 1977, at age 25, my dad bought a 5-unit apartment building in Sherbrooke, QC for $50,000. With a job requiring a high school education. #OldEconomySteve ♪ Those were the days, my friend. ♫

It's more modern zoning from the 30s and 40s. The effects aren't bad as long as you can sprawl, once sprawl becomes impossible, housing prices head to the stratosphere. The traditional solution was to subdivide houses to convert to duplexes and triplexes. Can't do it anymore.

Why would that be wrong subdivide larger homes? It seems like a green solution?

Time for the Canadians to immigrate to Houston. Housing is still fairly affordable especially in the suburbs where you can purchase large homes, you just have to deal with the awful commute! #houstonrealtor #surban

This is a problem all over the world. Dublin has a housing crisis so bad it's spilled over into a homelessness crisis. In Sydney the median price is over $1M. Forget about buying in London unless you work in the city. Sad but true

Yet they are soon going to have to sell their assets. It's not about the die-off but the sell-off that will ensue as this is the retirement savings for many a boomer.

If American companies did not off shore jobs, you would have your pick. When I first started working things were very bad in 70’s and early 80’s. MANUFACTURING WENT OVERSEAS. It was slim pickings.
