I imagine the reason for "why the hell not" would be that many people simply don't want to deal with the stress of being "that guy", of being responsible. Same reason not everyone seeks to enlighten themselves...because they know it will probably make them more miserable.

When it comes down to it Jordan is just a really good guy that wants the best for people. You might not agree with some of his viewpoints but how is it so hard for some people to see that he has a really kind heart.
