I don't advocate the Tiger Mom approach, but the impulse / self-gratification model of short term gains absent long term focus isn't healthy either.

There's a healthy middle road, of being stoic and disciplined, in proportion to what one truly want out of life Same w sports, MMA, etc..

Being stoic and displined combined are typically learned behaviors, and rarely innate to the human spirit of change ..... Balance and the middle road between men, can only be struck upon equity and equality, if a common ground is to be found .

actually, it would not be nice you would get used to it and life would just be boring/uneventful just the same level of happiness every day. its all relative think of the train accelerating example.
