He’s very accurate and addresses a real issue with funding. Much better and less hyperbolic than your take for sure.

The essay is contradictory, but it also does acknowledge hard realities with regards to marketplace economics & reputation.

It's insane for anyone who would call themselves a social scientist to write about the political leanings of the academy and completely ignore the available statistics of how professors self-identify and to whom they donate political funds.
