Why would one apologize for acts of a few? It is not all of Canada that live now that did wrong then unless it is to say Canada can never be right?

P. E. Trudeau seemed to have it right. You can't rewrite history so if you keep looking for wrongs, there'll be no end to finding victims to repay. History seems to be really oversimplified today. The cynic in me thinks this is by design so the Liberals can buy votes.

The piece would be better if Le Devoir acknowledged the generations-old victim culture of a sizable chunk of francophone Quebec ('quebecois de souche') that launched two referendums toward QC separation. Bit of sour grapes here.

The chronological snobbery alluded to is a key problem, esp. w/ young people, who seem to have no true sense of History and no firm view of human nature at all. "Things were terrible, then I was born! But there are still a few things yet to tear down" seems to be the thinking.
