Why is writing the best way? I would absolutely disagree as would anyone who has ever emailed or written another person.

It could be the case that writing is the method that's just most convenient to them. In written form they can ignore certain things, can more easily construct others, can claim that your writing is hateful, ban it and only have their response floating around.
