But it's sooo much easier to assume benevolence! It gives people who will never have to deal with practical consequences of policy they craft/support, that nice, warm, feeling of self-righteousness and self-congratulation for their obvious compassion and moral goodness.

In a free market basing hiring, promotions, etc., on who puts out is unprofitable, as the most productive are not being fully utilized.

I guess it made taking the course made them see themselves as righteous and unable to do wrong, like confessing in a church. I heard the similar thing about psychopaths who had undergone therapy in jail - they were more likely to reoffend than those who hadnt.

An evidence-based, data-driven approach, with social science as the method (rather than ideology and outrage), is simply a better way to arrive at answers to human suffering and social problems. If we could get even a few more Leftist leaders to admit this, its a start
