I don't think it's a left/right issue, I think it's a broader problem of people embracing some parts of enlightenment (equality/fraternity) and forgetting others (scientific method/tolerance/reason)

It's a philosophical issue rather than a political one (and that's a bad thing because you used to be able to talk on political issues, but now some groups don't value the importance of dialogue anymore and have their own epistemology).
