Superhero movies are cross culturally in appeal and are apolitical. That's why we have to put up with them.

But isnt about what the people want? Or is it Hollywood manipulating us.

What about "The Big Sick" or "Hidden Figures"? Massive successes and great movies, no matter who the protagonists were.

The average citizens in those movies are generally depicted as helpless sheep that need the protection of superheroes. Not very empowering.

Surely you admit there is some degree of 'supply-side' shaping of what is produced? Basic dynamic system, even what is demanded is a function of this steering of norms over time? Stop misleading your sheep, JPete.

Shaping culture is much harder (and expensive) than utilizing it. Apply Occams.
