Our fathers lied to us. So once again, a fundamental transformation - battling the chaos of nature - is taking place. Ebbs and flows.

I though that might be a problem with for profit education (why flunk people who are paying you) but interesting to see in Gov. schools.

Right. It's called the effect of predatory capitalism. Some areas should be left out of the market economy. Education is one of those.

Student-as-consumer model is the worst thing that happened in universities. Basically the professors become the students' employees.

I have long thought that we should try to separate teaching and testing. The teacher could then be more on the students side.

It is happening right down to the kindergarten level. Small children violentally spitting, hitting, scratching teachers.

Consumer of an increasingly worthless schooling, which I won't call an education.

Federal student loans existed long before the consumer model of higher ed took hold. But who knows?
