I think so. We're not allowed to be just mothers and we don't have many role models to look up to.

So why don't women who feel that way speak up? Are the more maternal inclined to be more silent?
-
Feminists: work for decades on legal protections for pregnant workers, parental leave, support for poor mothers, prenatal care, partner-violence prevention, workplace protections for mothers... Sexists: Why don't feminists *talk about motherhood* more? Feminists: ... I mean.
-
Young mothers, wanting their infants around, “Let me just nurse my baby real quick.” Everyone around, “Ewww no, don’t do that!”
-
I have never seen that being the father of five children and an uncle to over 30 neices and nephews. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but decent people don't act that way. Dismiss them for the idiots they are and realize MOST people love babies and children.
-
Maybe, when people who HAVE nursed children in public tell you, who HAVE NOT nursed children in public, that nursing in public is heavily stigmatized, maybe DON'T insist that it's rare, only a few idiots, and something that women should just ignore. Maybe that.
-
Do you treat your students this nicely? I was actually agreeing with you.
-
You may have been agreeing with her about breastfeeding being normal, but the form you chose was "I'm not saying that doesn't happen, but I've never seen it happen." When you respond to someone's experience this way, it comes across as "I have decided not to call you a liar."

Is it possible? Sure. It's also possible that you are three raccoons wearing a trenchcoat. Is it likely? No. Infant lust is far from the most reasonable explanation for outrage in late capitalism.
-
I don't know, I'm liking the three raccoons hypothesis.
-
I’m sure raccoons in a trench coat wouldn’t be nearly as loathsome as Jordan Peterson ...
-
At the VERY least they'd be cuter.

Just a hunch but you weren’t breast feed were you Jordan?

how does this kind of comment add to anything? I know so many mothers who walk away from the crèche crying. They don’t want to leave their babies. But we live in a world where they’re forced by economics to do so (but we’re going to delete the alternative from the constitution)
-
FFS, Sarah how is it that you think an absolutely ludicrous and offensive JP tweet about women as absolutely fine, but take issue with a comment ridiculing his assertion?
-
I choose to work outside the home. The constitution doesn't get to tell me or my husband where our places should be.
-
I know, it's silly and has to go ,although I'm arguing that the bigger priority is for a referendum overturning Nicolau vs ABU, which said unmarried fathers have no right of guardianship to their children. To get women out of the home, (constitutionally) let's get men in.
-
My friend Tyler has primary guardianship of his daughter. The courts are changing sweetheart. Stop acting like it's not evolving and moving foward. And you can thank feminism for that.

Or even how in some communities if a woman leaves her husband, she also has the leave her children. In the Orthodox Jewish communities in North America, this is a huge issue. It does not matter if the kids are best with their mum's or not. Divorce your husband you lose your kids.
