People who use wood as fuels are mostly in countries ( like African countries) which aren't really the focus of carbon reduction programs, so this statistic really does not mean anything. People aren't using wood in the US or Canada, which can afford greener alternatives.

Coal isn't a great solution to this problem. The great smog of London in 1952 was caused by people heating their homes with coal. Natural gas is good, electricity is good. Needs infrastructure of course. Complex problem. But burning coal is not a good solution
