I have plenty of positive emotion that is not at all connected in relationship to movement toward a valued goal. Those emotions are found in "guilty pleasures" and quite often in "funny randomness". I get what you're trying to say, but let's not generalize.

Based on your EMU paper: I disagree. Randomness with well-understood probabilities would not necessarily cause problems (e.g., will I get a red traffic light on my commute?). But if one can't estimate the probability of random events (and their goal consequences) then: anxiety.

In my limited experience this is true but less habitually oriented people are better at coping with chaos, although there is price to be paid down the line. As I am experiencing myself at the moment.

@jordanbpeterson would you say that a lot of depression is, in actual fact reward defecit disorder of sorts. A lack of completion which stifles dopamine over serotonin imbalance?
